The University has been invited to nominate candidates for the 2019 Bower Award and Prize for Achievement in Science. Each year, a predetermined field of study is chosen as a theme. The theme for the 2019 Bower Science Award is Green and Sustainable Chemistry. The Institute is currently seeking nominations of individuals in the international scientific community who have made significant contributions to green and sustainable chemistry—chemistry focused on the technological design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances. I encourage you to forward this announcement to the appropriate faculty. Please submit your nominations directly with the award sponsor.  Note that emails of intent to nominate should be sent by April 30, 2018. The deadline for receipt of completed nomination packages is May 31, 2018. For more information regarding the Bower Award and Prize, please visit their website at
